Professor at the Institute of Anthropological Studies, Universidad Austral de Chile. He holds a Political Sciences and Sociology Doctorate from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Since 2019, he has led a methodological research line in the FireSES Nucleus, focusing on the analysis of socio-ecological interfaces between localized livelihoods and environmental, economic, and institutional forces in contexts of globalization and climate crisis, particularly in areas affected by large fires in south-central Chile. He coordinates the Chile Node of the American SIAL Network. He is an associate researcher at the Center for High Latitude Marine Ecosystem Dynamics and the associative research ring Dialogue and Territorial Learning Communities in Crisis Scenarios in Southern Chile (ULagos-UACh).

Academic at the Department of Sciences and Natural Resources, Universidad de Magallanes. He holds a doctorate in Biotechnology from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico. His research focuses on carbon biogeochemistry, specifically on the physical and biological processes related to the transformation, emission, and accumulation of methane and carbon dioxide in freshwater ecosystems.

A biologist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, she has a doctorate in Forest Ecology, specializing in Forest Soils, from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. Her studies focus on the contribution of tree canopies and their inhabiting plants to forest functioning. She conducted postdoctoral research at CR2 on the ecological relevance of the Alerce tree crown and its implications for management and conservation. Currently, she directs the Regional Associative Project Explora Los Ríos of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation.

Resilient cities | Research collaborators

Professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, and the Department of Historical Sciences, Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities, Universidad de Chile. He holds a doctorate in Social Sciences, specializing in Geography and Development Studies, from l’École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Paris, France. His research areas include social and cultural geography oriented towards sustainability, socio-environmental studies, and development studies. In 2018, he received the National Geography Award from the Chilean Society of Geographical Sciences, and in 2023, he was awarded the “Wrigley-Fairchild Prize” by the American Geographical Society. He served as Vice-Rector for Research and Development at the Universidad de Chile.

Research Professor at the Research Center for Technologies for Society C+, Faculty of Engineering, Universidad del Desarrollo. She holds a doctorate in Atmospheric Chemistry from the University of Leicester, UK. Her main research interest is measuring atmospheric pollution, currently leading the Fondecyt project “Integrated Assessment of Air Pollution in Contrasting Geographies of Chile,” measuring air pollution in Calama/Alto Loa, Santiago, and Coyhaique. She is also involved in community science projects, especially in the Maipo River. At CR2, she collaborates in obtaining data from the Andean Observatory measurement station in Valle Nevado at 3,600 meters above sea level.

Geographer with a doctorate in Territory, Space, and Society from the Universidad de Chile. Her research areas include spatial justice, just cities, and climate justice. She is an expert in public management for territorial development, with experience as a public manager, international consultant, and lecturer. She has collaborated with institutions such as FLACSO Chile, CLACSO, and the Organization of American States (OAS). She is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS) and Facilitator of the CLACSO Working Group on Inequalities, Social Structure, and Policies.

Doctor in Anthropology from the University of Bonn, Germany. Her research focuses on recognizing indigenous peoples’ rights in national and international climate governance. She collaborates with various indigenous organizations and NGOs to strengthen the influence of indigenous peoples in negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). She is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oslo, Norway. She has participated as a contributing author in Working Group I of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

Professor at the Faculty of Law, Universidad de Chile, and senior researcher at the Center for Regulation and Competition (RegCom). He holds a doctorate in Law from the University of Lleida, Spain. He coordinated the Reform of Environmental Institutions, which resulted in Law No. 20.447 creating the Ministry of Environment, the Environmental Assessment Service, and the Superintendency of the Environment. He was also an advisor to Congress on the Environmental Courts project. He has served as Minister of Justice and Human Rights since 2023.

He is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Social Sciences, Universidad de O’Higgins. He holds a doctorate in evolutionary social psychology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands. His research focuses on studying individual and social motivations underlying behaviors with environmental impact from both a functional-evolutionary approach and a socio-environmental psychology perspective.
