The Department of Environmental Science and Renewable Natural Resources of the University of Chile is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the relationship between art and climate change. The University of Chile, founded in 1842, is the main and oldest institution of higher education of the country, developing and communicating knowledge in all areas of knowledge and culture. The area of action of the Department of Environmental Science and Renewable Natural Resources is based on the interactions generated between humans and the environment due, specifically, to the use of natural resources and the potential deterioration that this produces in the environmental system. The work of the postdoctoral fellow is expected to contribute to the Center for Climate and Resilience Research CR2, a research institution that brings together investigators from the social and natural sciences, aiming to generate knowledge about climate science and resilience from an interdisciplinary perspective. The postdoctoral position is a two-year, post-doctoral programme fully funded by the Quadrature Climate Foundation (QCF) through the QCF Fellowship Programme.
Climate change is one of the main challenges of the present, where technical solutions, although useful, have proven insufficient, leading to an increase in uncertainty and concern among inhabitants, but it has also increased individual and collective initiatives and efforts that seek to redefine our relationship with territories. In this context, art emerges as a common language, a space for coming together and reflection that allows us to express and share our experiences, memories, and emotions related to climate change, as well as to dialogue and imagine new responses, adaptation, and a better future. Art is becoming an effective tool for research and intervention projects. The postdoctoral fellow will research the intersection of climate change science, art, and community interventions.
Assessment criteria

- Experience of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
